Tripcodes are a way to identify yourself between posts without having to register with the site. To use a tripcode, enter your name as ‹name›#‹key›.You can choose anything you want as the key—it is private and will never be shown to other posters or stored on the server. For example:

Rarity#bestpony → Rarity!.4PK7yxdII

If you want a tripcode containing specific words, you can download a program designed to search for tripcodes, such as Tripcode Explorer.

Email?

Entering an e-mail is optional.

There are also code words you can enter here which perform certain actions when you submit your post.

  • sage — lets you post without bumping a thread.
  • nonoko — uses the original post behavior to redirect to the board index.

These can be used at the same time as an e-mail address by typing ‹email›#‹action›.

You can also use Skype names in place of an e-mail. The notation is the same as a link to a username on skype itself, which is skype:‹username›

RMS wants sources: Anyone remeber Linux dissing Hackers code more recently? AnonymousCountry code: us, country type: geoip, valid: 1  25393

In the past (1990s, 2000-??) hackers were the star of the show in Linux kernel programming.

However some time ago the quote became
"all 1990 hacker code has been removed from the linux kernel".

prior to that it was
"most kernel code is now contributed by paid programmers from companies"

and prior to that it was "Linux is a hacker project for hackers by hackers, revolution OS"

Now hackers just aren't permitted to contribute to the Linux Kernel. RMS want's direct quotes and citations.

I remeber seeing them, remember the colour of the websites, some were LKML, some were others, some were slashdot etc.

But I don't remeber exactly where and by who.
Anyone remeber?

Today there's NO hacker code in the linux kernel.
Not allowed. Verboten. Code of Conduct violation (one way or another).
You can't get a word in edgewise.
And architectures are being removed, power buttons crash the kernel at the slightest touch when newer kernels are used on older machines, Rust is making the Linux Kernel intel only.

And we're told "fucking fork it yourself" "also you are BANNED for discussing forking linux, transphobe!" etc. You know the drill.

But if it is desired that what once was our operating system continue to be used on something other than intel-only Rust-daycare: that's the only way. Linux has to be forked.
It is a commercial project now.
With no room for hackers.
It was once a hacker / hobbiest project;
Linus simply betrayed everyone who ever helped him: and he has betrayed the hacker cause.

Remeber when cool things were always added to Linux? I do. Or developed by other hackers for it (PaX, Grsecurity, GRADM) and kept it secure? I do.

It's ALL gone now.
Our thing has been taken away from us.
Hackers are just dissed and shamed now by the commercial devs of the Linux kernel. Hackers are mocked that their code isn't good enough to be included.Celebrations are started that the last hacker-era code:ReiserFS: which never broke and was NOT broken when it was removed. 100kbfree

why was it necessary to make this about transphobes?

As far as I'm concerned, the only problem with Linux is that it contains non-free firmware blobs. And that we need to reverse engineer and develop free software replacements for those binary firmware blobs, because these manufacturers won't even tell us how to write it in the first place.

Newer GPUs and WiFi cards are still suffering from lack of functionality on free kernels such as Linux-libre. I do not know if Linux-libre is going to make a hard fork in the future, but care is still taken to strip out all the known non-free parts.
