My mom's super pissed. She said it was inappropriate for Nonny to come around family, that they know nothing about him. I said he knows plenty about you guys (family). that he's one of my confidants who I complain to so that I don't blow up at people IRL. She asked for examples about the kinds of things I complain about. Just lay out on her. I gave one example, being woken up after 20 minutes so I could move my stepdad for the millionth time. I gave a couple of additional examples, being sore as hell but having to go paint, and also not having any privacy at my stepbrothers. She yelled what does the first have to do with the other two! And then she screamed something about how that's just part off her daily life. What is she supposed to do??? I responded that I try to make it about her, but it isn't always about her. And then she hung up on me.

It was very hot. It had been cold, wet and foggy here all spring so suddenly appearing in Florida where it was ~93 degrees every day was a bit of a shock. We had fun otherwise though. I got lots of pictures of Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America which are slated for removal later this year and we ate at some restaurants we hadn't eaten at before like Be Our Guest which is the Beauty and the Beat themed restaurant.

I don't know. it's just been in the back of my throat all day.
I've been working on the replacement server. It uses RAID 0+1 for redundancy and speed. And the final 2 drives are wiping now. I haven't decided if they're going to be RAID 1 or 0. In total it'll have 6 drives compared to the current server's 2. I'm also working on some initialization scripts to streamline this process in the future. And working on some computers for the rehab place after that.

I took some vitamin C earlier. I've been drinking tea all day, and now wine, for that 1-2 punch.
It's not really a server thing; just a computer thing. It uses mechanical disk drives because SSDs will write themselves to death in servers. In the 0+1 configuration, 4 nearly identical drives are split into 2 sets of 2, and each half of the set of 2 gets half the data, so they write and read twice as fast, and the pair is mirrored so the whole thing has a backup if any one drive fails.
they actually paid me for all the other stuff I did. took them a while. had to go back and forth with them half a dozen times, and then they lost the paperwork, but eventually it got straightened out. and now I have new stuff to work on for them.

>>16369 It depends on a lot of things. If you have endless amounts of cash and need the speed that badly I guess you can. If you are reading but not writing very much it can work fine. In the same way that a flash drive will go bad once you write to it too many times, the same applies to SSDs, so the more things you have running/logging/writing/etc. the quicker they die.
They need some replacement work stations, and then other things later on.

My mom and I were running around talking pictures of landmarks with a major thunderstorm that blew over the Rockies and onto the plains as the backdrop. Getting pelted with rain that felt like hail. Saw a bunch of wildlife and got lots of pictures. Visited Laramie and Cheyenne Wyoming very briefly. And now we're back at the hotel we've been staying at in Colorado.
