All cities have dark sides, and Canterlot is certainly no exception. On the wrong side of the tracks, everything appears to be dark and cold, the rainy weather being but an exclamation mark deepening the atmosphere of alienation and lurking fear.

The atmosphere changes though, as soon as you pass the worn door over the neon sign saying, in bright bold letters [U]D NUT BAR
Who Framed Roger Rabbit OST 18-Valiant & Valiant (Version B)

Inside, amongst the tables and chairs dating back to the last century, with their nicks and stains and worn out padding, you can finally get yourself dry, drink something hot and wait out the rain. There's even a antique jukebox - someone placed the damaged neon 'o' from the sign outside next to it, the stylised glass donut looking a bit out of place with the sombre décor.

Here, all are welcome and accepted – so long as violence does not occur, as indicated by a the sign reading “Weapon bin by the door, put it in or we put you out. Cold."

On the blackboard, one may find what appears to be a scribble of nonsense:

Naturally the inside of Joe's Doughnut Bar was dingy, cool and dimly lit behind its closed doors. The humidity from the outside seemed to follow behind as one treaded within its wooden walls; only to dissipate and disperse against the cold hard floor. While poorly illuminated, there were figures of all sorts that sat among the various corners of the bar; most of them seemed to be native denizens of Canterlot, while others more exotic and foreign. Some were quietly brooding, while others held their conversations under low tones and peering eyes from their seats.

A man stood behind the counter where a line of stools sat. He turned his head at your voice with a look that spoke of many long thankless nights serving who just might come waltzing through the door.

"Glazed?" His voice was lazed and somewhat monotonous. "I've gotta warn you, it'll put hair on your chest. Two bits."

Within most of the more high-class doughnut bars of Canterlot there was a two doughnut limit, but a place like this was much more likely to turn a blind eye.

"The first two are for sale, the third is on the house."

Upon closer inspection, the bartender had a greenish-golden hue to his skin. Upon even further inspection it was revealed that his skin was made up of scales! He wasn't a man, but a fish! Sliding a double scoop ice-cream to the previous customer, he spun around to fetch your order. A few moments later he returned with three freshly baked glazed treats. Despite the worn down appearance of the establishment, they smelled rather decidant and delicious, wafting a light amount of steam into the cool air.

"An equine like you had better pace themselves." He began to speak, leaning over the bar's countertop with a bit of a lean "You aren't from around here are you? I'd be careful. Even Canterlot isn't all it's cracked up. At least not when you're living outside of the courts of those snobby rich nobles."

"Not from around here huh?" The tender says almost nonchalant, and yet there seems to be a deeper meaning to his words "I guess you're right. I just don't want you to end up like old Joe." He pointed to a sigh behind him that said the old ad of "Joe's Doughnut Bar." "You seem like a nice enough pony. Around these parts a pony like you can be seen as a target. He disappeared about a week ago by the pier and nobody has seen him since." Naturally he was referring to the reverse waterfall pier that hung over the near sky height castle's complex. "Apparently he was out there fishing for sky cod and some robed men grabbed him. They weren't equines like yourself either." He shrugged "This bar is gonna close down without him soon enough."
