Their amygdala is incredibly swollen. You would think that well that makes them better at handling emotions but you would be wrong. Think of the amygdala as a factory that produces material for the rest of the brain. Well a humongous amygdala produces too much for the rest of the brain to handle and you get a sensory overload. A constant PTSD-like state of high alertness. They become too good at social interaction. Too empathetic and sensitive. Memories become too crisp and distracting.
An amygdala doesn't sort memories and emotions depending on them being good or bad. Good and bad is a human construct. Very subjective and the brain is a very honest organ.
Because of this and because they are often hidden away on minecraft servers from the rest of the world their amazing social cognitive skills works the other way around and they become skittish, sad and angry. Something that neurotypical will often seek out when they themselves are feeling sad or angry as they are considered bad emotions in todays society and they can thus climb the ranks of the social structure if they make an ASD-person sad or angry which isn't very hard.

From what I understand they are so called desk job soldiers working with intelligence. Mostly drones.
An person with ASD working as a soldier in the field would have to hide their autism or they would be medically discharged.
What you do see on places like /k/ are many people with ASD who are not fit for service. So their hobby becomes being as tacticool as possible.
