He's a smart lizard, but no. He can't understand written language. He does however, recognize voice and faces. I have noticed that he has also been recognizing the reflection of the mirror.

If he is approach from behind while he looks at the mirror, he will turn around to look at me.

It makes me think that a lot of animals are actually much smarter than we give them credit for.

This creature with a brain the size of less than a grain of rice is actually quite impressive.

I've noticed that Dino also really likes being serenaded. If I sing to him, he pays attention. If I move around the enclosure he leaps from the leaves to follow me.

If I stop early, and he wants more; he'll flare up his dewlap or start doing pushups/ a dance. It's only if I stop singing early. When he is done, he'll leap back into the leaves of his plant.
