>>28585>>28596It was interesting. But kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it was cool seeing so many Hungarians together in one place and we had some interesting discussions with people. On the other, the official program left a LOT to be desired. 80% of the program was in Hungarian with no translations provided, which was just really surprising since the event was advertised as being open to anyone. The speakers varied from dull to atrocious, which is a shame because their messages were lost on the crowd due to awful delivery. We discovered that all of the other '56ers (as they were called) had an almost uniform experience with leaving Hungary, completely unlike what my family experienced, to the point that my mom felt she had nothing in common with any of them. The things we spent most of our time discussing afterwards were the things that could have been improved.
>>28599 that's a pretty funny image. I like the style.
My family used to visit Muenster, TX somewhat regularly for specialty foods back in the day!
Well... I came to visit my mom so I could get my dog's teeth cleaned/extracted - which ended up not happening, but I was already here for it anyway. And the timing just happened to coincide with the event, which my mom was already planning to attend. There's another event closer to where I live, but it would have been pretty inconvenient for me to attend.
