Boomerisms you believed but were dirty lies Anonymous (ID: 59f6ba)Country code: blank.gif, country type: blank, valid: 3352

What are some boomerisms you fell for but have long since realized were fucking stupid?

For me it's potato storage.
>POTATOES GO IN THE PANTRY BECAUSE... BECAUSE THEY JUST DO, OKAY!?
So for the longest time I put potatoes in the pantry or some other like dark cupboard until recently when due to some storage constraints I had to put potatoes in the refrigerator and... *shock gasp* not only were they perfectly fine in the refrigerator but they actually kept better than in a pantry.

Is that really a boomer thing? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is how a lot of boomers and X generationals get wrong is when they talk about how when they were 25 and how they worked hard but had a house or a car or whatever; as if it's just as easy today to get any of that without help from previous generations. They forget that the cost of living was much lower when they were working in their teens and 20s. They forgot how much less experience you needed to get hired and how a lot of jobs did training on the job

>how a lot of jobs did training on the job
Oh god that's one of the biggest absurdities/scams I've witnessed the shift toward. Seeing all these 'technical colleges' pop up where people are paying an arm and a leg for specialized job training that just 30 years ago companies would pay people to receive (and obviously the job was already gotten at that point once it was done)

My parents never got me crunchy peanut butter and I also grew up with the notion that German cooking was bad. Germans have delicious meats and mustards, and crunchy peanut butter is overall better.
